As a new year approaches, the industry prepares to meet new DOE regulations going into effect January 1, 2020 and July 10, 2020. Heatcraft is your trusted source for all things DOE and remains ahead of the curve with the introduction of new DOE-compliant products. As you work towards compliance, consider how to offset the investment by reducing energy costs along the way.

Electronically Commutated (EC) Motors by InterLink™ are the most energy efficient motors available for evaporators. Here are the top four reasons InterLink’s motors should be on your radar today:

  • Up to 75% efficient. Giving you a 51-59% increase over shaded pole motors and a 30-35% increase over permanent-split capacitor (PSC) motors.
  • Existing System? No problem. Installation is quick and easy. They are a drop-in replacement for existing shaded pole and PSC motors.
  • Building a new system? EC motors are available as an E-Solutions option on new low profile, low velocity, and center mount evaporators.
Noticeable savings, quickly! Compared to shaded pole motors, our EC motors will pay for themselves within 18-24 months.

InterLink EC motors are a high impact, quick payback solution to reduce energy costs without replacing the entire evaporator. During the development of new model evaporators, InterLink EC motors underwent extensive in-house lab and field-testing to ensure that the models meet DOE 2020 minimum efficiency refrigeration standards. InterLink EC motors are designed for a variety of commercial applications and compatible with all Heatcraft evaporators sold under the Bohn, Larkin, Climate Control, and Chandler brands.

For additional energy savings, pair the EC motor with Heatcraft’s InterLink Smart Defrost Kit (SDK). The SDK brings intelligent control to the automated defrost process. Systems are designed to automatically defrost three times a day, whether they need it or not. The InterLink SDK learns your system and accurately predicts frost accumulation on the evaporator coil. It will not defrost unless necessary, reducing your energy costs even more.
