With an aging walk-in freezer, local contractor Arrowhead Superior Refrigeration partnered with Heatcraft and American Refrigeration Supplies (ARS) to install and test Heatcraft’s dual-refrigerant class system — capable of running on both traditional A1 refrigerants and next-gen A2Ls.
After a flawless install in 115°F heat, the real test came a week later: on-site conversion from R-448A (A1) to R-454A (A2L), including the installation of a Refrigerant Detection System (RDS). The result? A seamless one-hour conversion with zero call-backs, no alarms, and full EPA compliance — all without needing to replace the entire system.
