Increase display case performance with simple maintenance tips

A little TLC can go a long way in extending the life of your equipment. These basic care and maintenance tips, will ensure you get the best performance from your low-temp display cases.

Maintaining the vertical air curtain

•

Monitor the load limit line (labels are applied to the inside of the ends installed on the case) to ensure that shelving, food products, signage or other objects do not extend into the air curtain, thereby causing a disruption in airflow exiting the case.

Air curtain performance

•

Check to ensure air discharge and return flues are open and free of debris or obstruction at all times to provide proper refrigeration and air curtain performance.

Loading/Merchandising

•

Do not place merchandise in the case unless all controls have been adjusted and the case is operating at the proper temperature.

•

Do not stock beyond the load limit lines or over the front of adjustable shelves.

Cleaning

•

Wipe the case down with mild soap and water; use special precaution when cleaning case components.

•

Clean exterior surfaces with warm water and mild soap to protect and maintain the finish.

•

Do not use cleaner containing abrasive materials or ammonia, which will scratch or dull the finish.

•

Flush the waste outlet with water following each cleaning.

•

Interior surfaces may be cleaned with most mild soap formulas, ammonia based cleaner and sanitizing solutions with no harm to the surface.

Personal safety tips

•

Warning: Always shut off power before cleaning to avoid serious injury or death.

•

Do not use hot water on cold glass surfaces; this can cause the glass to shatter. Glass fronts and ends should be warm before applying hot water.

•

Do not use water with a temperature greater than 140F. This temperature is unsafe to handle without proper protection and may cause damage to the display case.
